چکیده

Resonant magnetic perturbations (RMP) have been found effective in suppressing ELMs in the DIII-D experiment [1, 2] Simulations with the M3D code indicate that plasma rotation has an essential effect on the RMP. When rotation is below a threshold, the RMP magnetic field is amplified above the vacuum field, and acquires a helical structure. The magnetic field is stochastic in the outer part of the plasma, causing temperature and density loss. At higher rotation speed, the stochastic layer is thinner. The temperature is similar to the initial non rotating unperturbed state. Rotation and the screened RMP cause a density loss which extends into the plasma core.

Improved evolution equations for magnetic island chains in toroidal pinch plasmas subject to externally applied resonant magnetic perturbations

An improved set of island evolution equations is derived that incorporates the latest advances in MHD ~magnetohydrodynamical! theory. These equations describe the resistive/viscous-MHD dynamics of a nonlinear magnetic island chain, embedded in a toroidal pinch plasma, in the presence of a programmable, externally applied, resonant magnetic perturbation. A number of interesting example calculati...

Physics of Penetration of Resonant Magnetic Perturbations Used for Type I Edge Localized Modes Suppression in Tokamaks

Non-linear reduced MHD modelling of the response of a toroidally rotating plasma on Resonant Magnetic Perturbations (RMPs) is presented for DIII-D and ITER typical parameter. The non-linear cylindrical reduced MHD (RMHD) code was adapted to take into account toroidal rotation and plasma braking mechanisms such as resonant braking and the Neoclassical Toroidal Viscosity (NTV). The resonant harmo...

بررسی اتصال مجدد مغناطیسی غیر خطی در کروموسفر خورشیدی

In order to see the occurrence of magnetic reconnection in the solar chromosphere, we investigate the behavior of non-linear perturbations on the magneto hydro dynamic (MHD) equations. Numericalstudy of the resistive tearing instability in a current sheet is presented by considering the MHD framework. To do this, the four field model is applied. It is shown based on the simulation that the non-l...

Two-fluid magnetic island dynamics in slab geometry. II. Islands interacting with resistive walls or resonant magnetic perturbations

The dynamics of a propagating magnetic island interacting with a resistive wall or an externally generated, resonant magnetic perturbation is investigated using two-fluid, drift-smagnetohydrodynamicald sMHDd theory in slab geometry. In both cases, the island equation of motion is found to take exactly the same form as that predicted by single-fluid MHD theory. Three ion polarization terms are f...

Detection of ultralow-frequency cavity modes using spacecraft data

[1] The cold, magnetized plasma in the Earth’s magnetosphere supports two ultralowfrequency plasma wave modes. Both these modes may exhibit resonant oscillations in the magnetosphere cavity. Theoretical and numerical studies have predicted the existence of cavity/waveguide resonance modes, yet experimental evidence is sparse. In this paper we detail the expected structure of these modes using b...
